Customers Benefit from Refrigerant Distillation Technology
02/06/2010
With many users reliant on R22 and other blends chasing re-cycled material. A-Gas is launching the next generation of its fractional distillation technology to boost supplies of recycled refrigerants.
The latest system will enable A-Gas to re-process much larger quantities of material.
Built in-house by A-Gas’ own engineers, this system offers the very latest in fractional distillation that not only boosts recycled supplies but enables A-Gas to reclaim gases from a cocktail of returned refrigerants.
“By splitting mixed refrigerants, A-Gas can increase the amount of recycled material available and is currently the only supplier who has the technology and capacity to provide this level of service,” says Ken Logan, Managing Director of A-Gas (UK) Ltd.
The benefits to the customer are increased availability of refrigerants. Any virgin HCFCs which cannot be used within the EC can be sold through A-Gas’ International Group Companies to countries where use is permitted and not sent to an incinerator which would have environmental implications
End users are also turning towards ‘natural’ refrigerants. A-Gas already addresses this market with the provision of a wide range of natural refrigerants such as ammonia and hydrocarbons as well as CO2 as a refrigerant –R744. It can be applied as a working fluid in different heating and cooling applications due to its excellent heat transfer properties and high volumetric cooling capacity.
R744 is low cost and can be used as a secondary refrigerant alongside various other primary refrigerants such as HCs and Ammonia. It is also is non ozone depleting, non flammable. To keep pace with customer requirements, A-Gas has invested heavily in its own CO2 filling station to provide refrigerant grade CO2.
In addition, A-Gas offers ‘replacement refrigerants’ such as the ISCEON Mo® 9 Series and the UK engineered RS range of refrigerant replacements. These can be a solution for customers wanting to keep their existing equipment running on the same oil type but with a zero ODP refrigerant.
Despite inevitable price rises and speculation concerning refrigerant availability, A-Gas is confident of being able to handle demand from its customers.
“A-Gas monitors the market, by being proactive and innovative we are in a strong position to advise and help customers to find the best solution for their requirements,” adds Ken Logan.
